Mission Statement
The University of Alabama Adapted Athletics Sports Medicine Program is dedicated to advancing the health, performance, and quality of life of adapted athletes through exceptional, individualized care. We recognize that every athlete brings a unique combination of medical, functional, and performance needs, and we are committed to creating care plans that support the whole athlete.Â
Our approach integrates sports medicine, rehabilitation, performance, wellness, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration to help athletes remain healthy, perform at their highest level, and achieve their goals in sport and beyond. We strive to anticipate the unique challenges of adapted sport, proactively address health and performance needs, and create an environment where athletes feel supported, heard, and empowered in their healthcare.Â
We are committed to advancing adapted athlete healthcare through evidence-based practice, continued professional development, innovation, and research. We will continually evaluate our services, policies, and practices to ensure that our athletes receive care that reflects the evolving standards of sports medicine and the specific demands of adapted sport.Â
At the center of our program is the belief that exceptional healthcare begins with understanding the athlete. We will advocate for our athletes, collaborate across disciplines, and pursue innovative solutions that remove barriers to health, participation, and performance.Â
Vision Statement
To redefine excellence in collegiate adapted athlete healthcare by becoming a national leader in sports medicine, performance, education, and research. We are committed to providing a model of care where every adapted athlete receives individualized, comprehensive support that recognizes their unique needs and empowers them to reach their fullest potential on the court, on the track, and beyond.Â
