Coach Hynes is the women's wheelchair basketball head coach. Ryan started his journey with the Tide as a player for the men's team in 2009 and has been on staff since 2016. Coach Hynes received his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Sport Hospitality here at UA. Ryan was a member of the first men's championship team as a player in 2013. After teaching in the Tuscaloosa County school system for a couple years, Hynes got into coaching. Coach Hynes got his coaching start as the men's assistant coach for the program in 2016. Hynes was in that position when the men won the 2018 national championship. That following year, Coach Hynes became the women's head coach and hasn't looked back. Coach Hynes has helped lead the women's team to five national championships. Ryan has also started coaching on the international scene the last two years. Coach Hynes is an assistant coach for Team USA women's wheelchair basketball. Coach Hynes also was the head coach for the women's U-25 Team USA that won gold at the World Championships in Thailand in 2023. Coach Ryan Hynes has been a part of seven national championships as a player or coach here at the University of Alabama. Roll Tide!
