Alabama Adapted Athletics Announces Expanded Summer Camp Lineup for 2026

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Alabama Adapted Athletics is thrilled to announce its 2026 Summer Camp lineup, featuring exciting new opportunities for young athletes with disabilities to learn, compete, and grow. For the first time ever, the program will host both its traditional Overnight Wheelchair Basketball Camp and a brand-new All Sport Day Camp that brings together multiple adapted sports under one incredible experience, made possible with the help of The Stephen D. Menzies Rising Youth Athletics Foundation

A Tradition Grows

For 20+ years, Alabama's Wheelchair Basketball Camp has welcomed athletes from across the country to campus for elite instruction, skill development, and a taste of collegiate-level adapted athletics. This summer, that tradition continues June 10-13, when campers will live on campus, train with current Crimson Tide athletes and coaches, and experience the energy of Alabama Adapted Athletics up close.

"This camp is one of our favorite parts of the year," said Coach Hynes, Head Coach of Alabama Women's Wheelchair Basketball. "It's where we see young athletes fall in love with the sport and start to realize that college-level athletics can be part of their future."

All Sport Day Camp – A New Chapter

New in 2026, Alabama Adapted Athletics will host its first-ever All Sports Day Camp, June 15–17. This three-day camp will feature Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Tennis, and Para Track & Field, giving participants the chance to explore multiple sports in a fun and supportive environment.

Athletes can choose to participate in all three sports each day or focus on just one, creating a flexible experience for every skill level and interest. Sessions will be led by Alabama Adapted Athletics coaches and student-athletes, providing hands-on instruction and mentorship from some of the best in collegiate adapted sports.

"We've always dreamed of offering a multi-sport camp," said Dr. Brent Hardin, Director of Alabama Adapted Athletics. "There's so much talent out there, and we want to give athletes the opportunity to try different adapted sports in one place. This expansion is a big step forward for our program and the athletes we serve."

Made Possible Through Generous Support

This exciting expansion wouldn't be possible without the generous support of The Stephen D. Menzies Rising Youth Athletics Foundation, whose donation has helped Alabama Adapted Athletics move forward with this new chapter. The program is also deeply thankful for the continued support of the WillPower Foundation and UA Early College, whose partnerships help make opportunities like this a reality for athletes across the country.
